Not all accidents are bad; some create memories that we cherish for a lifetime. This is exactly what happened on one unexpected Saturday morning.

This year marked the 150 years milestone, since Hilverum, Barn and Amersfoort were connected [some of the cities in the Ntherlands]. That is how Hilversum [place where I stay] got its first railway station and became one of the important junctions.

The municipalities of Amersfoort, Baarn and Hilversum, the Railway Museum, NS and ProRail celebrate this historic event on Saturday, June 8.

That day, the Veluwse Steam Train Company ran four journeys between Hilversum Central Station and Utrecht Maliebaan with a real steam locomotive, for experts the BR23, a diesel locomotive, the 2530/2459 and the 100-year-old Blokkendoos. The trains stopped at the Baarn and Amersfoort Central stations to let passengers get on and off. The journey goes to the Railway Museum (Utrecht Maliebaan) where the exhibition ‘150 years of Maliebaan station’ could be seen. Travellers could visit the exhibition.
